So about 8 months ago I was approached on Instagram by Arleo. He said he wanted to incorporate some mental health in his feed and wanted me to do it with him!
PS: All of the coloured words/texts are links to my TCT-posts.
At first I had no idea what he actually even meant, haha. It took a while before we landed in what it was going to be: a weekly post to remind people to take care of themselves - in one way or another. Then we debated what to call it and then one night I had a friend over who just put “Take Care Tuesday” out there and so it began!
Initially I shared stories about what I do to take care of myself in general and I’ve spoken about everything from my apartment to ASMR and Arleo then shared personal stories from his friends. I then realised I didn’t really have that many more tricks up my sleeve so now we’re both simply sharing what we’ve done in the last week to take care of ourselves.
It’s been a wild ride and I think we’re both super appreciative of all the support we’ve received since the beginning of it all. 9 out of 10 days I’m very comfortable in sharing my story and how I’m feeling but then there’s this one day where I’m thinking “god damn this is waaay to personal, what am I doing?!” but then I read through all of the comments and DM’s I get on instagram and I realise why I do this.
A while back I was talking to this childhood friend of mine. We were both out drinking and met at the bar and he said that he truly loved our TCT-posts and that a story I shared about anxiety changed his life. I wrote a post about how anxiety is not a real feeling and he said that that really opened up his mind. Right then and there I was OVERWHELMED and I truly still am. If I could help even just one person to feel a little better I know what I’ve accomplished something in this world. When he said that to me I knew that me “exposing” myself like this is all worth it. A thousand times over.
